Yacht chartering. Redefined

Our story:

Fastsailing started back in 2012 with the vision of running a modern and independent yacht charter company that offers high-tech innovative yachts that combine speed, seaworthiness, quality, and comfort in the world’s sailing paradise, the Greek seas!

That’s how we evolved so far:

2012: We bought our first boat, a Pogo12.50 named Hermes, entering the charter business with some naivety and ignorance but certainly with lots of passion and hard work.

2013 – 2016: Progressively enriched our charter fleet offering the full range of Pogos, with 6 boats from 30 to 50 ft.

2017: Introduction of the first X-Yacht for charter, our X4.3 named Xenios.

2018: Introduction of the first Solaris yacht for charter, the Solaris47 named Forever Free. Entered the Solaris Yachts commercial network.

2019 – 2024:

  • Development and consolidation to a high-end niche charter company with a fleet of 16 yachts: Pogo, Solaris, X-Yachts, Italia, Outremer, ORC, First, Solaris Power, Omikron.
  • Technical supervision/maintenance of over 10 private (non-chartered) yachts
  • Two charter bases Lavrio and Corfu.
  • Commercial collaboration with esteemed brands: Solaris Yachts, Solaris Power, Mylius, Neo Yachts, Rapido Yachts, SeaAir & Omikron Yachts.

Our team:

The FastSailing team has grown progressively and consists currently of 9 in-house technicians/sailors, backed by our admin, sales & marketing team of 2 persons.

Our philosophy is to do almost all tasks by ourselves, developing skills, capacity, and experience within the team. Our technicians are all top sailors, regularly skippering our yachts that they know in great detail by servicing them year-round.

Occasionally we race our yachts, and when we do so, we do it seriously:

  • 1st in 2015 Hydra Race on the Pogo12.50 Hermes,
  • 3rd in the 2017 Rolex Middle Sea Race on the Pogo50 Eros (when only 35 out of 105 yachts finished),
  • 1st in 2023 Aegean600 Multihull category on Outremer4X Lynx.

Michalis Aftias
Team leader

Sailing since childhood on inshore 470s, offshore sailing yachts and local regattas in the Aegean. Following his engineering design studies in Greece (AUTh) and the US (MIT), he worked during 2001- 2004 at a leading construction company in France, where he came into contact with the oceanic sailing design trends on Minis 6.50, Class 40 and IMOCA boats. The idea was ever since in his mind: combine the open-minded oceanic designs with cruising comfort, and make such yachts available to those who demand unique sailing experiences in the world’s most beautiful archipelago, in Greece!

Nicholas Georgiou
Operations Manager

After studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of Newcastle and Management at Bocconi University in Italy, Nicholas joined ABB from 2004 till 2021, where he held various positions up to becoming Local Business Unit Manager for Motors, Generators & Power Transmission products. In 2021 he bought his own sailing boat and decided to devote himself professionally in the sailing sector. In early 2023 joined the Fastsailing team as Operations Manager.

Angelina Antoniou
Commercial & Marketing

Angelina joined Fastsailing while still a Computer Science student in the Athens University back in 2019. Thanks to her organizational and communication skills, she quickly assumed full responsibilities for all commercial & marketing matters.

Tania Madi
Administrative & Purchases

Tania joined Fastsailing as a part timer in 2018 while still at high school. Since spring 2023 she is responsible for all administrative and purchasing tasks and very soon she will obtain her university diploma in Economics.

Dimitris Poulimenos
Operations – Corfu base

Dimitris is our UK born guy raised in Corfu with dual UK/GR citizenship and -naturally- a native English speaker. After studying graphic design in the UK, he made a switch in his career and joined Fastsailing in 2019 assisting the Corfu base operations. Since 2022 he is responsible for all boats based in Corfu, while regularly skippering our boats both in the Ionian and the Aegean.

Stathis Balomenos
Solaris60 Argo – Boat captain

Stathis knocked our door in December 2020 and said: “you have the boats I love ; I would like to work with you”. In the middle of Covid, with total uncertainty reigning over the tourism sector, normally we should have responded something like “let’s wait a bit till this whole covid mess clears out” …but his passion for sailing was radiating and absolutely genuine, so we said “yes sure, join us!”. Stathis had never been on a sailboat when a friend invited him to sail on his JPK10.10.  Something clicked: sold his share in the restaurant he ran with friends, quit studying electronics & automations, became deck hand and quickly captain on day cruising catamarans in Santorini. In 2019 he bought his own sailboat. His devotion, sailing knowledge and character quality made him a star skipper, so when the Solaris60 came to our fleet in early 2023, he was our obvious choice for the boat captain’s position. Apart from the Solaris60, he takes care of electronics on our yachts.

Manthos Melas
Technician & Skipper

Manthos has studied Geography in Greece and did an MSc in Conflict Governance and Development in the UK. In 2021 he decided to devote himself professionally in the sailing sector and after a year in a rigging company he joined the Fastsailing team in 2022.

Andreas Mandas

Andreas joined the Fastsailing team in 2024. Prior to that he has worked at a ski school and in a day sailing charter company operating in the Cyclades.

Tassos Kouimtzis
Technician & Skipper

Tassos joined the Fastsailing team in 2024 after 4 years of experience in our sector. Technically keen, strong but also with an artist’s hand when it comes to fixing cosmetic damages.

Nikita Tokovyi
Technician & Skipper

Nikita joined the Fastsailing team in 2024 initially as a part timer during his studies in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and from early summer 2024 as a full timer. Born and raised in Greece by his Ukrainian parents who came to Greece as sailing coaches before the 2004 Olympics, he has extensive experience in Olympic dinghies, Platu25s, as well as on larger offshore yachts.
